The model Xserve (RAID Rack) unit is a 3U rack mount Fibre Channel storage device offered to compliment Xserve or Power Mac machines with coupled, massive, lightning quick storage.This model Xserve RAID runs 14 independent ATA/100 drive channels supporting 14 total drives, dual 512MB controller cache memory, 8MB of on drive cache per drive, a dual 2.0GB Fibre Channel host interface with SFP ”Small Form Plugable“ ports, load-sharing hot-swappable, redundant 450W power supplies, hot-swappable "cooling modules" and optional 72 hour "Cache Battery Backup Modules".These RAID units were discontinued February 2008 and were offered at the time in 3 versions with either 4 250GB (M9721LL/A), 7 500GB (M9721LL/A), or 14 (MA209LL/A) 500GB 7200 RPM ATA/100 drives.
